Identification of Prospective Teachers’ Characteristics through Preferences for Colors

Abstract
The major objective of this study was to link the different characteristics of prospective teachers with their color preferences. This study was quantitative in nature. A self developed questionnaire was used as a research instrument. The validity of the instrument was done through pilot testing and expert opinion. The reliability of the instrument was calculated by using KR-20 which was found to be 0.75. The data were collected from 1469 male and female prospective teachers from two public sector Universities. The collected data were analyzed by using descriptive statistics, using SPSS. The results of the study revealed that most of the respondents preferred black color. The study also showed that those prospective teachers who preferred green, orange, purple, and red colors were identified as confident; those who preferred pink color had maximum fear of unknown; those who preferred black color can diagnose the best; who preferred one of the colors black, white, orange, red, and pink were identified more aggressive. The prospective teachers who preferred green color were identified as good problem solvers.
